Even though the ground was frozen hard as a brick last week, the farmers still have a great selection of winter produce for your holiday meal. I polled the farmers earlier this week, and here is the list of what they'll be bringing to Saturday's Bainbridge Island Winter Market, which is the last day they'll be open until the summer market begins next April. The Market will be open from 10 am to 3 pm at Eagle Harbor Church on Winslow Way.
Persephone Farm, Laughing Crow Farm, Terra Bella Farm, Butler Green Farm, and Sundown Ridge will all be bringing fresh produce and farm products to Saturday's market. You'll find winter squash in many shapes and colors, potatoes, onions, beets, kale, chard and winter salad greens. There will also be lots of fresh local eggs. There will be garlic braids and lavendar products for gifting. Laughing Crow will have local corn meal. And Perennial Vintners and Bainbridge Island Vineyards will have a selection of local wine to celebrate with, including BIV's newly released Strawberry Wine. One sip of this delighfully crisp wine will transport you to summertime, no matter how cold it is outside. Happy holidays! Save
