Booth Canyon Orchard will be offering fresh-picked pears and apples from their Methow Valley orchard in the Eagle Harbor Church parking lot on Bainbridge Island this Friday, October 15.
Stina Booth, the owner of this small, Certified Organic orchard in eastern Washington, grew up on Bainbridge Island. Every fall she brings a truckload of apples and pears straight from the farm to Bainbridge to sell in Winslow.
This year she will be selling certified organic pears and apples on October 15 from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm in the north parking lot of the Eagle Harbor Congregational Church, in downtown Winslow, located at Madison and Winslow Way. Her prices are competitive with organic fruit in the grocery store, and she offers a discount if you buy by the box. Prices are $2.75/pound or $40/box of pears, and $43/box of apples. Boxes contain about 20 pounds of fruit. Both pears and apples store well so you can stock up for the winter.
Booth will offer Honeycrisp and Macoun apples. Honeycrisp are sweet and tart and very crunchy. Macouns are a Macintonsh type apple, great for eating as
well as pie and sauce. Also D'Anjou pears which will be a burst of summer sweetness in the dark days as they will keep for 2-3 months in a cold place. Booth will also have other varieties for sale by the pound at my stand. Visit the website to see all the varieties they grow. www.boothcanyonorchard.com

The Booth farm is located in the Methow Valley in north central Washington. The climate of hot summer days and cool fall nights is ideal for growing the highest flavor fruit. They currently have 25 varieties of new and heirloom apples, and 10 kinds of heirloom pears, all selected to be the best tasting. The Booths use the least disruptive management methods in the orchard, all certified organic by the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Because the orchard is so small, they pick, pack and store all of the fruit by hand, on the farm. This gentle handling allows her to pick fruit at its very best flavor, rather than hard enough to hold up to the packing shed.
Look for Botth Orchard's big blue truck.
